SLM Dinghy Training Program for Sailing Clubs

turning the decline of active Sailing at Clubs on its head !

A disruptive innovation that supplants existing orthodoxy on value, marginal cost benefit, growth and retention making it possible for Sailing Clubs to build loyalty and engage young families

A tried and tested remedy for struggling Sailing memberships, Structured Learning Methodology (SLM) is in use at Sailing Clubs around Australia, set to grow exponentially as local communities revalue the sport of Sailing.

Young families at their local Sailing Club adapt SLM in support of their child in dinghy sailing because SLM delivers unprecedented value. The supportive structure appeals to families, a form of child, youth and leadership development, sailors aged 7-10years nurtured with a focus on learning and improvement are inspired with pride and achievement. Normal sailors achieve exceptionally well to become fine young adults. An extraordinary number have achieved World Champion and Olympic campaign status.

Clubs develop their own coaching capability and fleet knowledge, coaches enjoy and respond to a structured learning environment where they engage in curriculum development and process improvement. World champion Sailors have gone on to become successful Coaches with state and national Coaching responsibilities.

Clubs utilise the SLM Training Program as a cornerstone strategy to replenish and stabilise sailing memberships, complimentary to traditional Sailing activities that can continue or be enhanced. SLM is simple to adapt, requiring a support group to implement the Program and drive rapid change from day one. Families supporting large and active Clubs fleets will emerge and Clubs must adapt to this changing demographic.

SLM is designed to deliver operating surpluses and loyal adult sailing memberships over the long term. Coaches are accredited, the Curriculum is compliant with Australian Sailing, a broad based variant extending from Junior to Youth and Open Classes. SLM works with small Community based or larger professionalised Clubs, in remote or City locations, a subset of the National Sailing agenda. State High Performance people base at Clubs collaborate to develop in larger more competent training fleets.

SLM has been operating at Sailing Clubs since 2002.
